Shaik Fazal Ahmed is an MEP services expert with an experience of 19 years in UAE. He has worked in various roles such Tenancy Design/Delivery Coordinator (TDC), Project Manager & Sr. MEP Manager. He is having experience in handling construction of shopping malls, refurbishment of existing malls, office space, residential towers including some special projects such as The Pointe water Fountain, Palm Tower Viewing Deck & The World islands. He is here to share his insights with www.expertsexperience.com on working in UAE with international companies and clients. In this part of the blog he will be sharing his journey till now. Now let us dive deep in his own words:
The beginning of life starts with learning. It’s not the one time process but it’s a lifetime inculcative capacity. Today I represent myself with the 19 years of UAE experience and it’s not the sum up of these 19 years only but it’s the learning, the working and the experiences of my life till now and it’s open to further enhancement. I did Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad India. It reflects my qualification and what I studied but what I learnt is the practical work done by me and the efficiency in that work done.
Moving ahead in my journey as a Mechanical Engineer, the first break through I got was some 20 years ago when I got my first opportunity to work with BurJuman, Al Ghurair Group as Tenancy Design/Delivery Coordinator. It was my first international opportunity and I regard it as a turning point in my life because it opened door for new learning and new experiences. I was just 26 years old and I was getting into a project worth AED 2.5 Billion with international companies and clients working on it. Isn’t it huge opportunity for any professional at the early stage of his career in UAE? But a firm belief in my capabilities and definitely a platform that BurJuman provided me, I have taken it as a challenge and managed along with Architect to deliver 200+ shops of various local and international brands as tenancy design & coordination.
After that I moved to projects like Office Tower, Residential Towers and BurJuman Refurbishment project. One by one together my hard work and knowledge paved way for further excellence in my work. It changed my life a lot both in terms of career as well as personality. I evolved as a more mature and decisive person. It was a booster for my career and now the point was to maintain that standard that I created for my work and at the same time keeping myself open for improvement.
When one milestone was achieved, definitely the next was in the queue. To explore more opportunities and challenges I joined the Nakheel Group and it’s been 5 years working there. One of the business units of Nakheel group is Nakheel Malls which has around 40 commercial assets of various types from big and luxurious shopping malls to community pavilions, and later hospitality and residential apartments were also added to the portfolio of our business unit. Also, we have completed state of the art special projects such as The View at Palm Tower in Palm Jumeriah, The Pointe Water fountain, Currently we are working on The world Islands project and challenge is to provide power supply to these Islands. It’s quite explicit the type of work we do, the change in the gravity of work done and my success is the result of my in-depth knowledge, proper dissemination of the knowledge and working & learning with experiences.
